3rd Canada China Business Forum outstanding success for Canadian/Chinese delegations
More than 150 senior Chinese corporate and government leaders joined over 250 senior Canadian businesspeople in Toronto Sept. 15 for a highly rewarding, day-long, face to face gathering, the 3rd Canada China Business Forum. The Forum was structured to encourage direct business matchmaking sessions between Chinese and Canadian companies active in specific sectors and geographic regions.
The Forum included a no-cost morning program that encouraged attendance by newcomers being introduced for the first time to CCBC and its Forum partner the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Many small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) joined the morning sessions which focused on business success stories in China, doing business in China and doing business in Canada. In the subscribed afternoon sessions, the delegates focused on the Canada-China dynamic in the global downturn and the ongoing issues of Intellectual Property protection and trade dispute resolution between Canada and China.
The Chinese business delegation included representatives from Finance and Investment, Commerce and Trade, Real Estate, Building Materials and Décor, Construction and Industrial Machinery, Agriculture and Food and other sectors. The very-strong Chinese business delegation was supported by a pragmatic team of Chinese economic officials from major cities and regions including Beijing, the new Chinese super-city Chongqing and the Liaoning, Hunan and Xiangxi areas.
A gala evening banquet following on the heels of the CEO Roundtable that ended the day’s proceedings featured Canadian and Chinese government leaders and CEOs. It was an excellent networking evening in which senior leaders from Canadian corporations made valuable connections.
CCBC and CCPIT have scheduled the 4th Canada China Business Forum for October in China.
Early response from the delegates has been very positive for the Forum. CCBC e-mailed a very short survey to attendees. It’s aimed at gathering impressions that will help improve future events. We encourage attendees to fill out this very brief online questionnaire.
