Laurier worked 15 years in China, travelling extensively throughout the country, during which he developed an in-depth knowledge of the Chinese language, business environment and culture. While in China, he co-founded two companies, a marketing and cross-cultural training company specializing in the Chinese market, and the first gourmet chocolate brand in Beijing in 2005.
Prior to this, Laurier worked for a leading international property consultancy firm in China. He also served as Marketing Manager for an international medical and emergency service provider in Beijing.
Laurier’s first experience with the CCBC was in 2000-2002, as Beijing Chapter Manager, which included organizing several commercial missions to China, such as the Natural Resources Canada mission in 2000 and the Team Canada mission in 2001. His diverse work experience in Canada includes nine years in the telecommunications industry and several years in consultancy and photography.
Fluent in Chinese, French and English, Laurier has a bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies, an M.A. schooling in Translation, and degrees in Commercial Photography and Public Relations.
