Join Now »Sarah Kutulakos joined the Council in 2007 and has since revitalized CCBC’s role as Canada’s premier bilateral trade and investment organization. Sarah has re-centered the Council’s activities around providing business services, catalyzing business growth and activity, and advocating for stronger Sino-Canadian bilateral trade and investment. This has resulted in extensive public outreach activities, internal infrastructure improvements, the launch of new programs such as the Business Incubation Centre, and thriving member relations.
Prior to joining CCBC, Sarah worked for 11 years in marketing, product development, and management with a major multinational corporation, where she had multiple assignments involving China. Sarah managed worldwide product businesses that marketed to China and used China-based sources of supply. She was also involved in several projects requiring cooperation with the Chinese government. Sarah has led both established and start-up businesses within the context of a global corporation and has broad emerging market business experience, and has been involved in the Greater China region since the late 1980’s when she lived and worked in Taiwan. There, she was the first non-Chinese employee of a local high-tech start-up firm, where she gained a deep understanding of Chinese business practices.
A fluent Mandarin speaker, Sarah’s interest in China began at the University of Wisconsin, where she studied Chinese, marketing, and international business. She holds an MBA in finance and operations from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. She frequently speaks on China issues, including marketing, trade, investment, and Canada-China relations.
Eumie Leung joined the Canada China Business Council in 1994. She has over 10 years experience in organizing large-scale, high profile events, and has been the chief coordinator in various state-level events that included the participation of country leaders. These events include Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s luncheon with CCBC in Ottawa in 2003, and China President HU Jintao’s business dinner with CCBC in Toronto in 2005.
Eumie also has experience organizing missions to China. She was involved in Team Canada Missions to China in 1994, 2001 and 2005; CCBC’s 1998 Annual General Meetings and Policy Conference in China with The Right Hon. Jean Chretien and Premier Zhu Rongji’; International Trade Minister Marchi’s mission to China in1998, as well as CCBC 30th anniversary mission to China with Chinese Commerce Minister CHEN Deming and Canadian International Trade Minister Emerson as guests of honour.
Prior to joining the Canada China Business Council, Eumie gained extensive experience in the Hong Kong’s public relations industry. She worked in the public relations department of Television Broadcast Limited, Hong Kong Ferry, and TVB International Limited before her immigration to Canada.
As Director of Membership & Outreach, Tony Gostling is responsible for organizing trade missions, events, and outreach activities across Canada and in China. Tony is also responsible for the Business Incubation Centre in Shanghai, and works closely with many member companies to get their China operations off the ground.
Tony has been heavily involved in Chinese business activities since 1996. For the two years prior to joining CCBC, he was a consultant in the field of product sourcing for industrial components in both China and Taiwan. Tony has a background in the metal industry (casting and machining) as well as in rubber and plastics. Prior to that, Tony spent nine years working in China as the President and Chief Representative for a trading company with offices in Shanghai and Shenyang, which supplied “made in China” OEM components, mainly for the railroad and transportation industry, to their customers in the US and Canada.
Tony has spent most of his career in global procurement and supply chain management. His background also includes working in the metal industry (casting and machining) and in rubber and plastics. He is very familiar with business start-up and operational practices in China and the common problems associated with establishing successful operations overseas.
Alexis Milinusic is CCBC’s Director of Communications. Alexis keeps members up-to-date and informed through the corporate website, e-newsletters, printed materials, and media and public relations activities. She also provides research, analysis, and reporting on Canada-China trade and investment issues for CCBC’s executive team.
Alexis holds a Master’s degree in Communications from Royal Roads University, and a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies from Oberlin College, where she specialized in Chinese language and literature.
Jeffrey offers unique communications insight based on years of high-level media, marketing, government and corporate experience. He founded Goodman Communications 22 years ago and has represented numerous Canadian and International blue-chip organizations. He also has served as advisor and spokesperson for many prominent individuals including Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Joseph Rotman, Charles R. Bronfman, and Donald Trump.
Prior to establishing The Goodman Communications Group, Jeffrey was principal communications advisor to Mr. Bronfman in Montreal where he designed a communications program for Mr. Bronfman and helped establish the CRB Foundation.
Jeffrey began his professional career in 1973 as a journalist with The Globe and Mail, where he worked as a columnist, feature writer and reporter. In 1980, he was appointed Senior Communications Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau. In 1983 he became Vice President of Corporate Affairs for R. J. Reynolds Inc., where he directed all aspects of the company’s communications initiatives.
Jeffrey is also the author of the best-selling book Huddling Up: The Inside Story of the Canadian Football League, published in 1981. He has been a guest lecturer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Centre for the Study of Democracy at Queen’s University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and English from York University in Toronto in 1974.
Tina joined CCBC in 2008. She is currently the Member Services Manager of the Council, and is the primary point of contact for CCBC’s growing number of Chinese members.
In 2010, Tina successfully finished her assignment in Shanghai, where she worked on various programs and events related to the Shanghai Expo, including facilitation of the Canada Pavilion. Tina also worked for the 2nd Canadian Financial Forum, and the Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Invest in Canada Series, which were visited by hundreds of Chinese investors and business people at Expo.
Tina was also responsible for ongoing support of CCBC’s corporate communications and marketing initiatives, especially those pertaining to the Council’s global website, and news digest, China Daily News.
Prior to these assignments, Tina served as CCBC’s Marketing Communications Officer and Executive Assistant in Toronto. She worked in support of events such as the 2nd and 3rd Canada China Business Forums in Toronto and Beijing respectively, the June, 2009 visit of China’s Foreign Minister to Canada, and the November, 2008, CCBC/Council of the Federation Joint Premiers’ Mission to Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai.
Tina holds an MBA, and CSC certificate.
Bessie joined CCBC in 2011 and quickly took over the Council’s entire accounting function. Bessie ensures that the Council’s operations and event financials run smoothly by compiling and analyzing financial information, and cooperating with the Council’s external auditors to generate accurate financial statements.
Bessie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Toronto’s Rotman Commerce program.
Karen works in CCBC’s Toronto office as Member Process Coordinator and Assistant to the Executive Director. In these roles, she researches, consults and coordinates CCBC’s membership processes, and conducts many other administrative duties.
Karen completed her undergraduate degree in Culture and Media at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and is currently an MBA candidate at Brock University, majoring in Marketing and Human Resources.
A native Chinese and Canadian citizen, Maggie joined CCBC as Membership Services Manager—Chinese Corporations in January 2012. Her diverse backgrounds include academic and project operational experiences with government, business sector and non-profit organizations in China, the United States and Canada.
Maggie moved to Toronto in 1998 as an immigrant. In Toronto she worked for the Asia Business Management Program at York University delivering executive training programs for professionals and executives from China. Prior to that she was employed by the Riverdale Community Business Centre as the business consultant to provide business counseling and training for new immigrants on setting up their business in Canada. Between 2004 and 2011 Maggie was based in China and Canada as consultant and project manager to implement various projects for the Canadian federal government and a number of international and Canadian organizations including the Canadian embassy in Beijing.
Maggie holds a Phd degree in international development and public administration from the University of Florida in the US and bachelor and master degrees in international politics from Peking University in China. She hopes to utilize her professional expertise and experience gained from working in Canada and China to help business community from both countries.
