Ottawa Luncheon for Mr. David Mulroney

On Wednesday, July 11, the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association and the Canada China Business Council invite members and guests to attend a luncheon in honour of keynote speaker Mr. David Mulroney, Ambassador of Canada to the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Mulroney, who has held the Ambassador post since 2009, will provide guests with an update on important bilateral developments that have occurred since the Prime Minister’s official trip to China in February 2012.

Mr. Mulroney, a career public servant and diplomat, first joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1981, serving abroad in Seoul, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei.  In 2001, he was appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister, first for the Asia-Pacific Region, then for broader Bilateral Relations.  In 2006, he joined the Privy Council Office as Foreign and Defense Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister.  Mr. Mulroney served as Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Personal Representative to the G8 Summit from 2007 to 2008. During that period, he also served as Secretary to the Manley Panel on Afghanistan.  In February 2008, Mr. Mulroney was appointed Deputy Minister of the Afghanistan Task Force in the Privy Council Office.

As many members will recall, Mr. Mulroney served as Executive Director of the CCBC from 1995 to 1998.
