Why Canada Centre in Shanghai?

Answer: Shanghai is strategically located at the Yangtze River Delta, which is emerging as China’s most powerful economic region and has been tasked by China’s central government to lead China to world economic success. The Yangtze River Delta region includes the major industrial and commercial cities of Southeast China, such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Shaoxing and Zhoushan. The regional economy is fully integrated, with a well- developed transportation network with its hub in Shanghai.

As the driving force of the Yangtze River Delta economy, Shanghai is the leader of the finance, banking, real estate, automobile and logistic industries as well as consumer market in China. The vast interior of the Yangtze River Delta, which includes major parts of Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, is the industrial base in China for advanced manufacturing for automobiles, aviation, electronics, textile, energy equipment, iron and steel, agri-food processing, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The area consists of many universities and research institutes collaborating closely with industry for technical innovation and R&D. The region accounts for 20% of China’s gross domestic production and is responsible for one-third of China’s imports and exports.

The Yangtze River Delta represents what may be the world’s largest concentration of adjacent metropolitan areas. More than 80 million people live in the region, with nearly 2/3 in urban areas. Fast economic growth and development has made the area one of the richest and fastest growing markets in China for high-end consumer products and services. Many successful private business people in the region are looking for better products and services, better education for their children and better investment opportunities for their wellbeing.
